
ORAL PATHOLOGY
The practice of Oral and Maxillofacial pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, and in many instances the management of patients, most typically for oral cancer.
Surgical removal of these lesions is recommended to rule out malignancy.
Most pathological lesions in the oral cavity require either biopsy or an excision specially to eradicate the lesion completely and diminish the chances or recurrence.
Various techniques such as bone grafts or surgical flaps may be used to help rebuild structures removed during excision of these lesions.
