Frequently asked questions
About the practice
Who owns OMS Associates?
Dr. Ramon Perez-Rosich, DMD, owns OMS Associates personally. We are not part of a Dental Service Organization (DSO) or a corporate dental chain. That means every clinical and operational decision sits with the surgeon you'll meet at your consult.
Is Dr. Perez-Rosich board-certified?
Yes. Dr. Perez-Rosich is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Nova Southeastern University from 2003 to 2007.
Where are your offices located?
We have two offices in South Florida. The Southwest Ranches office is at 15661 Sheridan St, Southwest Ranches, FL 33331 (954-693-0026). The Kendall office is at 12002 SW 128th Ct Suite 103, Miami, FL 33186 (786-210-6160).
Will I see the same surgeon for my consult, my procedure, and my follow-up?
Yes. Dr. Perez-Rosich performs every consult, every procedure, and every follow-up himself.
Booking and scheduling
Can I get a same-day consult or procedure?
Often, yes — particularly if you're in pain. Same-day consults and procedures are scheduled when clinically appropriate. Call us and tell the front desk what you need.
How quickly can I get a first appointment?
Most new patients are seen within the same week, often within 48 hours.
Do I need a referral to book?
No — you can book directly. If you have referral notes or imaging from another provider, bring them; it speeds up the consult.
What should I bring to my first consult?
Your most recent dental X-ray or panoramic imaging if you have one, your photo ID, your insurance card, a list of any medications you take, and any questions you've been carrying.
Insurance and cost
Do you accept my insurance?
We work with most major dental and medical insurance plans. Call us with your insurance details and the front desk will verify coverage before your consult.
Does medical insurance ever cover oral surgery?
Sometimes, yes. Wisdom teeth removal, jaw surgery, sinus lifts, and certain implant procedures can be partially covered by medical insurance under specific circumstances.
Do you offer financing or payment plans?
Yes. We offer payment plans through CareCredit and similar third-party financing options.
Wisdom teeth
Does everyone need wisdom teeth removed?
No. About a third of adults never need wisdom teeth removed. Removal is typically recommended when the teeth are impacted, crowding other teeth, causing recurrent pain or infection, or creating decay in hard-to-reach areas.
What ages do you treat for wisdom teeth?
Most patients have wisdom teeth removed between ages 16 and 25, when recovery tends to be smoother. We also treat adults of all ages.
What are the recovery rules after wisdom teeth removal?
Soft foods for three to five days. No straws for at least a week. No smoking. Most patients return to school or work in 3 to 5 days.
Dental implants
Am I a candidate for a dental implant?
Most adults with a missing tooth, adequate bone, and reasonable oral hygiene are candidates. Even when bone is thin, modern grafting techniques mean very few patients are completely ineligible.
How long does the full implant process take?
From consult to final crown, three to nine months for a straightforward case. Bone grafting or sinus lift, if needed, adds healing time.
How long do dental implants last?
With reasonable care, a dental implant can last decades.
Is dental implant surgery painful?
The surgery is performed under anesthesia. Post-operatively, most patients describe it as more comfortable than a routine extraction.
Sinus lift
Why do I need a sinus lift before an implant?
When an upper back tooth has been missing for a while, the bone tends to resorb and the maxillary sinus expands into the space. A sinus lift adds graft material, creating a foundation for the eventual implant.
Is a sinus lift painful?
Most patients describe it as more comfortable than they expected.
What can I not do after a sinus lift?
Do not blow your nose. Sneeze with your mouth open. Avoid straws, vigorous exercise, and pressure changes (no flying or scuba diving) for two weeks.
After the procedure
Who do I call if something happens after hours?
Call our main office line. After hours, the message will route you to Dr. Perez-Rosich or his on-call coverage.
When should I worry about post-op symptoms?
Call us right away if you experience heavy bleeding that doesn't slow after 30 minutes, fever over 101°F, signs of infection, or numbness that doesn't improve.
When can I go back to work or school?
Most wisdom teeth and implant patients return in 2 to 3 days. Sinus lift patients in 3 to 5 days. Exposure and bond patients typically the next day.
