Advanced dental implants in South Florida
A missing tooth doesn't just affect how you smile. It changes how you chew, how your jaw transmits force, and over time, how your bone holds its shape. A dental implant is the closest dentistry comes to replacing what nature gave you — a titanium root that integrates with your bone and supports a custom crown indistinguishable from your other teeth.
At OMS Associates, Dr. Ramon Perez-Rosich plans and places dental implants across the full range of cases: single missing teeth, multiple-tooth bridges supported by implants, and full-arch reconstructions for patients who have lost all their teeth in an arch.
Who is a good candidate?
Most adults with a missing tooth, adequate bone, and reasonable oral hygiene are candidates. The cases that need extra planning:
- Long-standing tooth loss with bone resorption — may need grafting or sinus lift before placement
- Active periodontal disease — needs to be controlled first
- Uncontrolled diabetes or active smoking — affects healing
- Patients on certain bone-density medications — requires medical coordination
Even when bone is thin or the sinus is in the way, modern grafting and sinus-lift techniques mean very few patients are completely ineligible. The planning question is more often when and how, not whether.
What the process looks like
- Consult and 3D imaging: we map your bone, plan the implant position, and walk you through the timeline
- If needed: bone graft or sinus lift, with healing time before implant placement
- Implant placement: outpatient surgery, typically under local anesthesia or IV sedation
- Healing: three to six months while the implant integrates with the bone (this is called osseointegration)
- Crown placement: your restorative dentist or our team places the final crown
Some cases qualify for immediate-load implants, where a temporary crown goes on the same day. We'll tell you at the consult whether that fits your situation.
Single tooth vs. multiple teeth vs. full arch
Single implant
Replaces one missing tooth without affecting the neighbors. Highest predictability, simplest planning.
Multi-tooth bridge on implants
Two or more implants support a bridge that replaces a span of missing teeth. Avoids grinding down healthy neighboring teeth, which is what a traditional bridge requires.
Full-arch reconstruction
Four to six implants support a fixed full-arch prosthesis. Patients who have been struggling with loose dentures often describe this as life-changing — the prosthesis is fixed, not removable, and feels closer to natural teeth.

Frequently asked questions
How long do dental implants last?
With reasonable care, a dental implant can last decades. The implant itself is titanium and doesn't decay. The crown on top can wear over years and may eventually need replacement, much like any dental restoration.
Is the placement painful?
The surgery itself is performed with anesthesia, so you don't feel it. Post-operatively, most patients describe it as more comfortable than a routine extraction — the implant is placed in a precisely prepared site rather than removed from one.
How much do dental implants cost in South Florida?
Cost depends on whether grafting is needed, the number of implants, and the type of final restoration. We provide a written treatment plan with the full cost at the consult so there are no surprises.
Will my insurance cover it?
Some dental plans cover a portion of implant treatment; many do not. Medical insurance occasionally covers parts of the surgical procedure in specific situations. We'll help you understand your benefits before you commit.
